A potentail client came into my Brentwood, TN office this morning for an initial consult to understand our collaborative divorce mediation services.  Like most people divorcing, they were confused about the first steps of divorce.  I explained that because divorce is 95% emotions and finance, they needed to address those areas first.  This surprised the individual as they thought a divorce was mostly legal issues.  I explained the legal issues of divorce are about 5% of a divorce and how our services benefit the sposues and the family.

If you are considering divorce, I encourage you to do your homework and review professionals websites and schedule a Zoom or inperson meeting so you can understand their process and services.  Does the professional understand and explain financial issues or, are they soley focused on the legal process? 

It is critcal for those divorcing to understand the financial issues of their situation so they make smart choices to secure their financial future.  We specialize in educating clients about their financial reality and this provides a calming effect.  Calm parents are better parents and this calm empowers parents to help their children through the divorce process.
