Divorce and Verifying Numbers

I met with a client in my Brentwood office today and discussed his ability to get a mortgage. He spoke with a mortgage professional yesterday and that person told him he would qualify for a mortgage. The numbers din not look right to me. So, I called the mortgage contact. They had transposed two numbers and infact the client did not qualify for a mortgage. Therefore, his proposed divorce settlement was not realistic. This is an example of why it is important to double check all the numbers when reviewing a divorce settlement. You have one chance to get a fair settlement. Take your time to ensure all the numbers are correct.
