A potential client called my Brentwood, TN office this morning and told me their divorce was bery simple and they wanted me to handle their case.  I asked if they had considered the federal tax issues... They had not considered if there were any tax issues... My reply was, "There are alwasy tax issues".

If you are divorcing, I encourage you to to address the tax issues before you agree on a settlement.  These taxes are a reality and should not be ignored.  We take great pride in our ability to discuss all financial and tax issues with clients.  Smart clients make informed choices and do not have buyer's remorse after the settlement is signed by the judge and next April rolls around.
